SCOPE OF JOB
Responsible for ensuring the overall maintenance, safety compliance, and operational excellence of all Madame Tussauds Hong Kong attractions, including the fabric of the building, facilities, wax figure displays, interactive exhibits, VR experiences, cinema, equipment, machinery, security systems, and life safety systems. This position must maintain full compliance with Hong Kong-specific regulations including the Public Entertainment Licence (PPEL) requirements, Buildings Ordinance, and Electrical Ordinance.
Key Objectives
- To ensure all building facilities, wax figure displays, interactive exhibits, VR experiences, cinema,equipment, machinery, and safety systems are in safe, full working order and maintained to thehighest standard at all times.
- Ensure all statutory equipment periodic inspections are arranged and all 'in-house' inspection regimes are implemented in strict compliance with Hong Kong regulations, including the annual renewal of PPEL, electricity and building inspections. Must possess current Competent Person (CP) qualification or demonstrate wealth of Hong Kong CP-specific ride rules experience.
- Ensure all interactive and show-related equipment and effects are in full working order at all times and are covered by a consistent preventative maintenance programme of works specific to Hong Kong regulatory requirements.
- Project management of new display areas, seasonal features, and capital improvement projects within the Hong Kong regulatory framework.
- Oversee maintenance of VR ride systems with specific expertise in troubleshooting and maintaining virtual reality hardware and software components.
Business Impact/Results
- Management of inspection and testing of all technical systems on weekly, monthly and yearly basis as required by Hong Kong statutory guidance and PPM schedules, ensuring all staff work safely and without undue risk.
- Ensure that adequate periodic safety checks are undertaken for fire, health & safety, emergency lighting, and electrical systems in compliance with Hong Kong regulations, and that any hazards or defects are either rectified immediately (if within the competence of the in-house team) or reported to the General Manager as soon as they become apparent.
- Responsible for maintaining mechanical, electrical (with HK Category B license) and control systems so that safety is ensured for both members of the public and staff and so that minimal down time is achieved.
- Responsible for co-ordination of capex related projects, seasonal features and upgrades to the visitor experience, and liaison with all relevant Hong Kong government departments and external contractors.
- Tight control of an annual maintenance budget, including repairs, equipment hire, shutdown maintenance, cleaning, environmental services etc. Keep to a tightly scheduled preventative maintenance programme so that costs can be predicted rather than occurring ad-hoc.
- Be aware of all cost issues and keep tight control of external contractor payments, sourcing alternative suppliers to ensure value for money service and work while maintaining Hong Kong regulatory compliance.
Creativity
- Responsible for ensuring lighting is sufficient for all wax figure displays and that all bulbs are in good working order and replaced, re-gelled etc immediately. Daily checks of all display lighting to ensure a high standard of visitor satisfaction.
- Develop innovative maintenance solutions for preserving wax figures and interactive displays in Hong Kong's humid climate conditions.
Communication
- Close and effective liaison with the site team advising on Planned Preventative Maintenance Programmes specific to Hong Kong regulatory requirements.
- Responsible for the keeping of detailed written records relating to statutory and in-house periodic inspections, the repair of defects and any modifications or any new installation work in accordance with Hong Kong documentation standards.
- Train employees in all areas of technical systems, safety protocols, and emergency procedures.
- Production of regular reports for Internal Global Operations and Hong Kong regulatory bodies as required.
Decision Making & Autonomy
- Responsible for ensuring that all audio visual shows and VR experiences are regularly serviced, supplies of necessary consumables and back up parts are kept in stock, and that any repairs are undertaken promptly to minimize any affect to visitor enjoyment.
- Management of periodic electrical inspections and testing on a yearly basis ensuring records are kept in compliance with Hong Kong Electrical Ordinance (Category B license holder).
- Ensure that adequate periodic safety checks are undertaken for fire, health & safety and emergency lighting etc., in accordance with Hong Kong Fire Services Department requirements.
Managing Resources
- Management of the Technical Team including one (1) Assistant Technical Manager who must also hold Competent Person (CP) qualification.
- Responsibility for management of contractors in respect of contractor's safety and compliance with Hong Kong regulations.
- Responsible for arranging that adequate technicians are on site during all opening times to maintain the attraction in a safe and functional condition.
- Ensure full and proper training for Technical team, attraction staff and duty managers etc and that relevant paperwork and records are kept in this respect to ensure safe compliance with Hong Kong law.
- Responsible for assessment, supply and maintenance of all safety equipment and protective devices for the maintenance team.
- Ensure the team has the necessary skills and experience to deputise in Manager's absence.
- Management, development and training of the Technical team. Responsible for all admin related duties such as rotas, holiday cover etc.
- Attend weekly meeting with full Management Team.
Complexity & Problem Solving
- Responsible for monitoring security systems, informing the relevant contractor of any problems.
- Responsible for ensuring sufficient locks, keys etc., dealing with any problems which might occur regarding the physical security of the displays and building.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues with VR systems, interactive displays, and environmental controls specific to Hong Kong conditions.
