ROLE SUMMARY
 
The Assistant Technical Manager serves as a technical specialist supporting the Technical Manager in maintaining all technical operations within Madame Tussauds Hong Kong. This role focuses on executing technical assignments as directed by the Technical Manager, with particular expertise in systems requiring Competent Person oversight and VR ride maintenance. You will provide advanced technical support for all attraction elements including wax figures, interactive displays, VR experiences, lighting systems, climate control, and facility infrastructure. As the designated Competent Person for statutory inspections, you will ensure compliance with all Hong Kong regulatory requirements while executing maintenance tasks according to the Technical Manager's direction.
 
Key Objectives
  • Technical Execution
    • Accurately complete all technical assignments as directed by the Technical Manager, ensuring operational availability of all attraction elements with minimal downtime.
  • Competent Person Responsibilities
    • Perform statutory inspections and sign-off on specialized equipment as required by Hong Kong regulations, maintaining thorough documentation of all inspection activities.
  • VR Ride Maintenance
    • Execute all maintenance, troubleshooting, and enhancement activities for VR experiences within the attraction, ensuring hardware, software, and network components operate at peak performance.
  • Technical Support
    • Provide specialized technical expertise to the maintenance team, assisting with complex repairs and system diagnostics as assigned by the Technical Manager.
  • Documentation & Reporting
    • Maintain accurate technical records, complete maintenance reports, and provide clear updates to the Technical Manager on system status and maintenance activities.
  • Compliance Implementation
    • Implement safety procedures and maintenance protocols as directed by the Technical Manager, ensuring adherence to Hong Kong regulatory requirements including Electrical and Mechanical Ordinances.
  • Team Technical Support
    • Provide technical guidance to technicians as directed by the Technical Manager, supporting the completion of maintenance tasks according to established procedures.
  • Operational Readiness
    • Perform scheduled maintenance activities and respond to technical issues during operating hours to maintain seamless guest experience.

Qualifications & Experience

Skills, Qualifications & Experience 
  • Mandatory Certification
    • Current or previous Competent Person (CP) qualification with demonstrable experience fulfilling CP responsibilities in a complex attraction environment.
  • Electrical Certification
    • Valid Category A electricity licence issued by the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department of Hong Kong (mandatory).
  • Experience
    • Minimum of 5 years technical experience in entertainment or theme park environments, with at least 3 years focused on specialized technical systems.
  • Technical Expertise
    • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical systems (including high-voltage installations), mechanical systems, pneumatic/hydraulic systems, network infrastructure, and VR technology maintenance.
  • VR Systems Proficiency
    • Demonstrated experience maintaining and troubleshooting VR ride systems including hardware, software, tracking systems, and content management.
  • Technical Documentation
    • Ability to interpret complex technical documentation, including electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and maintenance procedures.
  • Regulatory Knowledge
    • In-depth understanding of Hong Kong's Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance, Electricity Ordinance, and relevant industry standards.
  • Availability
    • Must be available to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, and be on-call for operational issues as directed by the Technical Manager.
